Blewett Wrestling Scholarship
Stroh, Hinebauch, St. Onge win 2012 Blewett Wrestling Scholarship
For the sixth year in a row Alexander (Zander) Blewett, III, a trial lawyer from the personal injury law firm of Hoyt & Blewett in Great Falls, has offered three $1,000 scholarships to the top student/wrestlers around the state of Montana for Classes “AA”, “A”, and “B/C”.
The scholarships are awarded to the top wrestler from each school classification, who has displayed the best combined qualities of wrestling and academic achievement. This year’s winners exemplify the precise purpose of the scholarships.
All three recipients won state championships and participated in the 2012 Tournament of Champions, a Montana all-star high school wrestling tournament also sponsored by Blewett’s law firm.
Shane St. Onge of Glacier High School is the Class “AA” winner. St. Onge was a state champion who carries a 4.0 GPA and will attend the University of Montana where he will study Pre-law or Political Science. He is also active in his schools theatre and news casting programs.
The winner in Class “A” is Eli Hinebauch of Havre High School. Hinebauch was a two-time state champion and two-time runner-up. Hinebauch carries a 3.8 GPA and will attend MSU Northern or Oregon State University where he will wrestle and study Engineering.
The Class B/C award winner is Ben Stroh of Chinook. Stroh was a four-time state champion and is currently ranked #3 in the nation at his weight class. He set a national high school record by earning 101 consecutive pins. He carries a 3.33 GPA and will attend University of Wyoming where he will wrestle for the Cowboys and study Business Administration.
“We love wrestling for the life lessons it teaches and these kids embody what this great sport is all about,” said Zander Blewett.
